Taylor Swift’s fanbase is getting a crash course in NFL fandom, as evidenced by their reaction to Travis Kelce’s injury on Sunday.
During the second quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 4 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, Kelce went down untouched with what appeared to be an injury that was similar to that of Aaron Rodgers’, as Kelce immediately grabbed for his right ankle.
After going to the locker room for an X-ray and sitting out the next offensive drive, however, Kelce ultimately returned to the game and would go on to score a crucial touchdown, as the Chiefs wound up winning the game by seven points.
While Kelce was luckily able to avoid an injury, the scare was enough to alert Swifties, who have now joined both NFL players and fans in calling for the league to get rid of turf fields.
“I’m so devastated for Taylor. We KNOW how much Travis makes her happy. She had to be so worried right now. She finally has a man who shows her love back and he got hurt on ARTIFICIAL TURF?” one viral
The reason calls for the NFL to mandate grass fields across the league seem louder than ever is due to the Week 1 injury to future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who went down with a torn Achilles on the MetLife Stadium turf without even completing a single pass for the New York Jets.
