New York is bending its rules on early Sunday morning booze sales, all thanks to the Buffalo Bills heading across the pond to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in London this weekend.

With a kick-off time set for a bleary-eyed 9:30 a.m., New York Governor Kathy Hochul has decided to cut some slack on the alcohol front.

Hochul declared that bars and restaurants now have until Friday to jump on the bandwagon and apply for special permits to serve alcohol on Sunday morning. This is quite the curveball as the initial deadline had already passed, but hey, it’s the Bills game we’re talking about here so she extended it.

Taking to social media, Governor Hochul stated, “With the Buffalo Bills playing across the pond on Sunday morning, I know fans will be gathering for the big game & may fancy a pint. I’m directing the State Liquor Authority to extend the deadline for special permits, so sports bars & restaurants can serve as early as 8 a.m.”

Now, some might say it’s just football, but Hochul has her roots in Buffalo and has been a staunch supporter of the Bills.

She played a key role in securing an $850 million taxpayer investment in the team’s new stadium.

With this latest move, she’s ensuring that Bills fans can wet their whistles well before the game kicks off.
