Deion Sanders Proves Cormani McClain’s Point With Petty Twitter Beef

Former five-star cornerback Cormani McClain was the biggest recruiting win of the Deion Sanders Era at Colorado.

One year later, McClain left the program in the transfer portal and called out Sanders and the Buffs for playing “for clicks” on the way out.

Now it appears that Sanders has proven the talented Florida native right after engaging in another petty Twitter beef.

“Some people just gotta take a step back from things sometimes, certain people, you know,” McClain said in a video discussing his transfer plans. “I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that’s going to develop players.”

McClain did not name Sanders specifically, but it seemed pretty clear who the message was intended for.

“I’m just ready to bring the old version of me out and change the narrative of everyone’s thinking on my name [and] be a part of a real and a great program that’s going to impact me at my best ability,” he said. “[I’m] ready to get to a new place and get to work.”

Deion Sanders’ Petty Tweet Proves Cormani McClain Right

Now just days later, Sanders went on Twitter and took a shot at Austin Peay defensive back Jaheim Ward, who was defending new teammate and Colorado transfer Xavier Smith.

Smith was one of a number of Colorado transfers who recently called out the way that Sanders handled the Buffaloes program.

“We sat on the sofa, and he’s talking to us, but he’s not even looking at us,” Smith said. “I’m looking Coach (Tim Kelly dead in his eyes. (Sanders) said he felt like I should hit the portal. He didn’t want me to waste a year thinking I could earn a spot.

“I was actually getting mad, like tears coming to my eyes. Because, bro, you never even tried to get to know me.”

Ward responded to Sanders’ taunting by calling out his son, Shilo.

The whole circus shows exactly why Colorado looks to be in big trouble entering the 2024 season.
