South Carolina WR Nyckoles Harbor stands 6-foot-5 and tips the scales at over 240 pounds. A man his size shouldn’t be considered one of the fastest players on his college football team, but Harbor isn’t your typical athlete.

A two-sport star, he also suits up for the Gamecocks‘ track and field team.

The physical freak put his speed on full display in his first-ever 60-meter event earlier this week.

That athleticism had him on a number of Power Five programs’ radar entering his final season of high school. A five-star prospect, he eventually committed to Shane Beamer over the likes of Oregon and Maryland.

His recruitment was a unique one as Harbor not only wanted to join a football program where he could develop his skills as a pass catcher, but he also wanted to join a top track and field team with dreams of becoming an Olympic athlete.

Despite his incredible frame, he boasts world-class speed which he put on display a number of times before making that college commitment.

It’s why college football writer Bruce Feldman named him the “freakiest” player in his class.

Nyck Harbor made an instant impact for the Gamecock football team.

As a freshman, the wideout saw the field early as South Carolina dealt with injury issues throughout the year. A season-ending setback to WR1 Antoine Wells opened a door for instant playing time.

Harbor, while still raw at route running, flashed his ability and showed potential as a dangerous deep ball threat.

In limited action, the pass catcher hauled in 12 receptions for 195 yards and a score – good for 16.3 yards per catch!

With the departures of both Wells and potential first-round pick Xavier Legette, Harbor’s role should increase as a sophomore.

Harbor is participating in track this spring.

Though spring practice is just around the corner in Columbia, Harbor is suiting up for his second team this semester. He ran his first 60-meter dash this week, and he didn’t disappoint!

The speedster

a time of 6.75 seconds in his South Carolina Invitational qualifying event.

Wheels!

He’ll look to best that performance on Saturday with the event continuing on throughout the weekend.
