WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes got to interview Caitlin Clark, and it was a bit awkward.
A few months ago, Swoops went viral when she questioned whether Clark’s NCAA scoring record was legit after she inaccurately stated that Clark had played an extra season due to COVID.
“If Kelsey Plum set that record in four years, well, Caitlin should’ve broke that record in four years,” Swoopes said.
“But because there’s a COVID year, and then there’s another year, you know what I mean? So she’s already had an extra year to break that record. So, is it truly a broken record? I don’t know. I don’t think so. But yeah, that’ll go in the record books. And, I don’t think it should be.”Swoopes has since apologized to Clark after finding out she was wrong, but fans have dubbed her a Clark hater ever since.
On Friday night, Clark made her WNBA debut, and Swoopes was on the broadcast team calling the game.
Swoopes interviewed Clark after the game, and the two kept it professional despite their past.

This interview shows why folks love Caitlin Clark, who graciously answered questions from a woman who bashed her earlier with misinformation. https://t.co/IeJgnTvjqc
