Adam Hadwin Reunites With Security Guard Who Leveled Him At The RBC Canadian Open

Adam Hadwin ended up at the center of the most memorable moment of the 2023 RBC Canadian Open courtesy of the security guard who jacked him up as he attempted to celebrate with the victor, and he made it clear he has no hard feelings after reuniting with the somewhat overzealous sentry.

Last year, Adam Hadwin tied for 12th at the RBC Canadian Open and took home a cool $178,650 in the process.

After wrapping up the tournament, the Saskatchewan native stuck around to watch fellow Canadian Nick Taylor attempt to become the first man hailing from the Great White North to win it since Pat Fletcher walked away on top all the way back in 1954.

Taylor ended up in a playoff with Tommy Fleetwood that came to a stunning end when the former sunk a 72-foot eagle putt to secure the victory.

Hadwin wasted no time joining his buddy on the green while attempting to give him a champagne shower, but he ran into a slight setback courtesy of a security guard who hit him with a textbook tackle and drove him down onto the putting surface after mistaking him for a random spectator.

This week, Hadwin headed to Hamilton Golf & Country Club for the 2024 iteration of the RBC Canadian Open, which is located around an hour south of the course where the tournament was held last year.

That fairly close proximity meant the security guard who leveled him got the chance to return to the tournament, and Hadwin let the world know he wasn’t holding a grudge when he posted a picture of the two of them after they reunited.

TSN also became the first outlet to speak with the guard in question (he declined to share his name to protect his privacy) in an interview where he recalled his rationale, saying “I saw it as if it was in slow motion, this guy coming towards Nick with a bottle and no credentials.”

He noted “It was a soft takedown. His feet never left the ground” and echoed the sentiment Hadwin shared in the picture that was posted, saying, “We got up and laughed, said sorry to each other, and it was all over.”
