The Prince of Darkness has a bone to pick with Kanye West, and he’s not holding back.
Ozzy Osbourne took to Instagram on Friday afternoon to call out the rapper for sampling the legendary Black Sabbath hit “War Pigs” against Osbourne’s wishes.
But he didn’t stop there.
“@kanyewest ASKED PERMISSION TO SAMPLE A SECTION (sp) OF A 1983 LIVE PERFORMANCE OF “WAR PIG” FROM THE US FESTIVAL WITHOUT VOCALS & WAS REFUSED PERMISSION BECAUSE HE IS AN ANTISEMITE AND HAS CAUSED UNTOLD HEARTACHE TO MAN,” Osbourne posted, seemingly emphasizing his frustrations with all caps.
“HE WENT AHEAD AND USED THE SAMPLE ANYWAY AT HIS ALBUM LISTENING PARTY LAST NIGHT. I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN!”West played his upcoming album, entitled Vultures, at a listening event at Chicago’s United Center on Thursday night. He has a second event scheduled for Friday night at Long Island’s UBS Arena. The album has not been released yet outside of the events.
A press release for the events read “This event marks a historic moment as attendees will listen to the album together with the artists and album collaborators. This gathering promises to be an iconic moment in music history, bringing together special guests, album collaborators, and fans in a celebration of creativity and innovation.”
Fellow rap star Ty Dolla $ign is a part of both the events and the album. Though no other names have been released. Neither has a planned release date for the album.
But it’s clear that Osbourne wants no part of it.
Osbourne has spent most of the recent years out of the public eye. While West has seemingly done the opposite. Most recently, the rapper appeared on a podcast with controversial host Bill Maher. Maher than revealed that he wouldn’t release the show due to West’s antisemitic rhetoric.
So it appears that Osbourne is on the right side of history with this one.
Whether he’ll take legal action against West, or has any legal standing, remains to be seen.
