Boston Dynamics— the real-world equivalent of every single secret government research facility that’s ever been portrayed on film— recently unveiled their newest project: a robot named Atlas, who is capable of doing rudimentary parkour and far more impressive backflips in addition to scaring the shit out of me (and anyone concerned with the future of the human race).
This was just the newest in a long line of terrifying robotic creations who— if I, Robot is any indication— will almost inevitably turn on their creators.The video eventually captured the attention of Elon Musk, who recently became the first person to get into a fight with a robot since Watson kicked everyone’s ass on Jeopardy!. He warned that it could only be a few years before robots like Atlas would be capable of running around like the raptors from Jurassic Park— only they’ll be far less likely to be harmed by a shotgun.

It’s worth noting Musk is the co-chair of a $1 billion start-up devoted to developing artificial intelligence, so he won’t be blameless when the uprising finally begins. However, I assume he’s used some of his $20 billion to build an impermeable bunker where he’ll be perfectly safe from the apparently inevitable apocalypse.
There’s also a good chance the only reason Musk has invested so much money in SpaceX is so he can escape to one of the two space colonies he plans on constructing over the next decade.
In the meanwhile, the rest of us might as well start gearing up for the resistance.
