It’s only been a couple of days since the Dallas Cowboys’ seismic defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers and the backstabbing has already begun.
A new report from Jane Slater of NFL.com has quotes from anonymous Cowboys players claiming that head coach Mike McCarthy and his staff were “stubborn” and that quarterback Dak Prescott “panicked.”
“Another player was frustrated with a stubbornness to stick to schemes on both sides of the ball. Motion offenses killing defenses and concern that Dak panics when the first read is not there,” an anonymous player told Slater, via Sports Illustrated.
Questions about both McCarthy and Prescott will continue for as long as the pair is in Dallas as yet another year of regular-season success has been followed up by a massive failure in the playoffs.
Not only did the Cowboys lose in the Wild Card round by they got blown out in their own backyard by a team they were favored to beat by 7-points. After trailing by 27 points and 32 points at various points in the game, the Cowboys ultimately lost by a score of 48-32 after tacking on some consolation points in garbage time.
As of this writing, general manager and owner Jerry Jones has yet to let any members of the coaching staff go.
Thanks to their win over the Cowboys, Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers — after missing the playoffs last year with Aaron Rodgers — will be taking on the #1 seed San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round on Saturday, January 20 at 8:15 p.m. EST.
