Robbed home runs are probably the coolest defensive plays in baseball. Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Jose Siri had the coolest and most impactful robbery of the season so far against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday.
With a runner on second base and two outs in a 3-3 game in the top of the ninth, Athletics infielder Zach Gelof socked a ball to deep left-center field that looked destined to give the A’s a 5-3 lead.
Jose Siri had other ideas. Take a look at this insane catch.

Not only did he make the catch and save the game, but he had to avoid Randy Arozarena, who also had a beat on the ball and could’ve made a play on it.
But, it appears Siri, who had the better angle, called him off.
And, Jose Siri’s heroics weren’t over! He ended the game with a walk-off base hit in the bottom half of the inning, giving the Rays a 4-3 lead.

Yeah, that’s quite the stretch by Jose Siri, to say the least. That’s a sequence you dream of in your backyard as a kid. He got to do it in real life!
