Oklahoma State’s Ryan Ure is making waves thanks to his incredible velocity off the mound. The left-handed pitcher has appeared in a pair of Cowboy contests, consistently hitting speeds in the high 90s as he blows batters away.
On Tuesday, Ure topped out at 103 MPH(!
) while throwing a scoreless frame against Oral Roberts. He’s drawing comparisons to Hall of Famer Randy Johnson due to his presence and power from the bump.Being called the NCAA version of “The Big Unit,” he even sports the patented RJ mustache!

Ure made his season debut on March 26th during a road trip to Wichita State. The sophomore was battling back from Tommy John surgery, making his first appearance since June of 2022.
And he did not disappoint!
The flamethrower struck out a pair of Shocker batters on his way to a scoreless inning, landing a midweek win in a 3-0 victory. He entered that matchup in a 0-0 ballgame before the Cowboys’ bats got going late in the action.
Almost impossible for left-handed hitters to square up, Ure struck out the first man he faced on three straight pitches.
Not a bad start to the season!

Ryan Ure followed that debut up with a relief appearance against Oral Roberts on Tuesday. Again, he racked up a pair of strikeouts while keeping the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard.
But this time, he outdid himself.
While staying in that 96-98 MPH range during that first appearance, he decided to kick things up a notch in opportunity No. 2.
Ure was clocked at 103 MPH on a fastball delivery, quite possibly the hardest ball thrown this college baseball season! And he made it look effortless!
Ryan Ure. 103 from the left side. Good god.

GAS!!
It’s been a positive return for the Oklahoma State lefty, who boasts 4Ks and a spotless 0.00 ERA through two innings of works so far this season.
Can you see the resemblance?
Ure will look to continue battling back from that injury while helping the Cowboys make a run to the postseason.
