Considering that just a few weeks ago there were trade talks involving Taylor floating around the league, it’s impressive we got here. The Dolphins and Packers showed interest.
This deal is a bit of a standout in a year when running backs haven’t been raking in long-term contracts like they used to, so Taylor caught a break.
Seems the Colts are banking on Taylor’s performance in 2021, where he led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,811 and scored 20 total touchdowns, to repeat.
Now, Taylor is locked in with the Colts for the next four years, sharing the field with their rookie 4th overall pick quarterback, Anthony Richardson.
It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved.
Of course, it’s not without its risks. Taylor is returning from an injury, and the NFL’s running back market has seen its stock drop.
Nevertheless, the Colts are betting on him recapturing his 2021 form when he was the league’s leading rusher.
Excitement is building as Taylor is set to make his 2023 debut in Week 5, facing off against the Titans.
Now fans get to watch one of the best running back in the NFL play with one of the most exciting young talents in Richardson.
