Caleb Williams is officially a bigger star than Caitlin Clark. They play very different sports in very different markets, but the jersey sales numbers do not lie!
Williams smashed Clark’s record just 10 days after the WNBA Draft.
It was announced less than five hours after the greatest scorer in college basketball history was drafted by the Indiana Fever that the team store was sold out of her jersey.
Fanatics ran into a similar issue.Clark broke the Michael Rubin-owned sportswear company’s record for draft night merchandise sales in any sport. Fans will have to endure a very long wait to receive their jersey as Fanatics scrambles to restock from the historic volume of jersey purchases. They won’t ship until August.
Chicago Bears and NFL who are hoping to get their hands on a Williams jersey before the preseason might be facing a similar timeline. It depends on how many of his jerseys were already stitched and printed.
Clark broke the all-time draft night sales record on April 15. Williams smashed her record on April 25.
This is a testament to three things:
- Caitlin Clark is an absolute superstar. Her record, as a WNBA player, was only toppled by the No. 1 pick in the country’s most popular sport.
- Chicago Bears fans are incredible. They are throwing all of their support behind Caleb Williams and cannot wait to rock the jersey of their new franchise quarterback.
- The NFL is king.
Williams is ultimately a bigger star than Clark, simply by nature of the league in which he plays. He sold more jerseys on draft night than any athlete in Fanatics history, which is pretty insane when you really sit back and think about how many jerseys that must be.
Although there will be countless Clark jerseys on the street come August, there will be even more Williams jerseys!!
