Red Bull Racing, the reigning series champion, is currently investigating team principal Christian Horner over allegations of “inappropriate behavior.”

Horner has been in charge of the powerhouse team since 2005.

The investigation comes after an accusation regarding his behavior from another member of team’s staff.

“After the company was informed of certain recent allegations, an independent investigation has been launched,” a statement of the energy drink company said of situation. “This process, which is already underway, is carried out by an external, specialized lawyer. The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practical as possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”

Jenna Fryer of the Associated Press reports that the allegations stem from Horner’s aggressive management style. Though British paper The Times says otherwise.

Formula 1 fans were completely taken aback by the news.

Dutch paper De Telegraaf even reports that the investigation has been going on for a while behind closed doors and could lead to Horner’s resignation.

Regardless of the outcome, it’s a massive bombshell just one month before the 2024 Formula 1 season is set to begin.
