Musical Fans React To Official ‘Wicked’ Trailer After Over A Decade In Production

After over a decade in production, the Tony Award-winning musical Wicked is finally set to hit the big screen on November 27, 2024.

Universal Studios released a new trailer for the movie that shows a star-studded cast featuring Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba), Ariana Grande (Glinda) and Jeff Goldblum (The Wizard of Oz).

Universal announced initial plans for the film all the way back in 2012, so with the official trailer out and the movie that much closer to reality, fans couldn’t contain their excitement.

BroBible dot com’s own Cass Anderson was among those who couldn’t contain their excitement.

Even people who have never seen or heard any music from the show were excited about the movie.

There is, however, one major problem. Universal Studios previously stated that the musical, which has a run time of around 2.5 hours, is set to be split into two parts of the big screen. The sequel is scheduled to release in late November 2025.

But nowhere in the trailer does it mention that fact.

Also notable is the fact that nowhere in the movie (or the trailer) is James Corden featured. Corden drew the ire of musical fans everywhere with his performance in Cats (2019).

The official trailer already has over 150,000 views on YouTube in over an hour and more than 20,000 likes on Twitter. So it’s safe to say people are a little fired up.
