The Chicago Bears are in talks with cornerback Jaylon Johnson for a long-term extension, according Johnson during an interview on 670 The Score.

Johnson, a second-round pick from the 2020 Draft, recently made his intentions clear that he’s not looking for a trade and would rather stay with the team, now he reveals he’s working on an extension.

The update comes after Johnson’s played really well on Sunday against the Raiders, where he nabbed two interceptions, one of them being a pick-6.

In an interview with 670 The Score, Johnson acknowledged that the extension process is ongoing, and he’s hopeful that things are starting to pick up. He mentioned the upcoming trade deadline and the uncertainty surrounding it but expressed his eagerness to see what unfolds.

Since being drafted, Johnson started all 44 games he played for the Bears. He has recorded 140 tackles, defended 34 passes, made three interceptions, and forced three fumbles, in addition to the touchdown against the Raiders on Sunday.

With the trade deadline coming up, who knows if the Bears trade other players, but seems Johnson is safe.
