Remember back in June when Caroline Wozniacki (and others, including Genie Bouchard) made it VERY clear that she wasn’t a fan of Maria Sharapova, nor the way she was getting preferential treatment after being suspended for using PEDs? Yeah, that was pretty awesome. Almost made me want to watch tennis again.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Wozniacki addressed Sharapova getting a wildcard entry into a tournament, “Obviously rules are twisted and turned in favour of who wants to do what. I think everyone deserves a second chance… but at the same time, I feel like when a player is banned for drugs, I think that someone should start from the bottom and fight their way back.”
Wozniacki then went on to call Sharapova getting to play in the tournament “questionable” and “disrespectful” to the other players.
Fast forward a couple of months and Wozniacki once again brought up Sharapova receiving preferential treatment, only this time at the 2017 US Open…
