Auburn put a beatdown on South Carolina during Friday’s college basketball game at the SEC Tournament. It was such a blowout that K.D. Johnson may have completed his homework during the second half.
He seemingly finished his assignment shortly after picking up a technical foul. (Probably not?)
Johnson, a senior, scored 10 points with five rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes.
The No. 4-seed Tigers took down the No. 5-seed Gamecocks by a score of 86-55 to advance to the semifinals. As the clock ticked down toward zero, an Auburn student named “Brad” claims that he received a push notification about one of his classes. Canvas, a learning management system, sent him the message.
It said that Kadarius (aka K.D.) Johnson “replied to Discussion: Andy Puddicombe TED Talk, KINE-3840-D01 (Spring 2024),” which refers to an online discussion board. The notification read “now,” as in real time.
“Brad” posted a screenshot from 4:28 p.m. The Tigers posted their final score on X at 4:49 p.m.
Now, the exact timing of Johnson’s post is unclear. Perhaps Canvas sent the notification long after Johnson had already made the post. Maybe the Georgia transfer completed his homework prior to tipoff and the app didn’t register its completion until the second half of the SEC Quarterfinal matchup.
Likely the latter.
Or, perhaps Johnson actually finished his homework on the end of the bench during a blowout. Maybe someone hit post on his behalf at the funniest-possible moment.
Regardless of what actually happened, Johnson was fired up against South Carolina. Might the discussion post have inspired him to play Friday’s college basketball game with an extra edge?!
He at one point guarded a three-point shot with his hands behind his back.
Auburn’s guard also picked up a technical foul for yelling at the officials.
Johnson was presumably trying to let them know that he had homework to do!
