JJ Redick and Patrick Beverley are beefing online over their takes on coach Doc Rivers. The argument stems from comments made on First Take Tuesday morning.
JJ Redick ripped into his old LA Clippers coach on the show, saying he has a history of blaming others for his own shortcomings.
Pat Bev clearly disagreed with the narrative.“I’ve seen the trend for years,” Redick said. “The trend is always making excuses. Doc, we get it. Taking over a team in the middle of the season is hard. Just like getting traded in the middle of the season is hard for a player. We get it.
“But it’s always an excuse, it’s always throwing your team under the bus… There’s never accountability with that guy.”
Those words quickly went viral as they came directly from a player that spent four seasons with the head coach.
The comments come following a 3-7 start for Rivers as leader of the Milwaukee Bucks. He was hired by the franchise after their midseason firing of Adrian Griffin, who was 30-13 with the same roster.
One of Doc Rivers’ current players came to his defense on social media.
Pat Bev blasted JJ Redick for his negative take.
“This Man Doc actually saved your career. Started you when no one else wanted [to],” Beverley responded after hearing the comments go viral. “And you retire, go on TV, and say that.”
Redick bit back with a few different replies.

Patrick Beverley landed in Milwaukee shortly after Rivers’ arrival. Having played for the head coach before, that wasn’t necessarily a surprise, nor was his defense of the Bucks’ leader following the on-air bashing.
While Pat Bev might disagree with the take, it’s clear the Bucks have some work to do to right the ship following the coaching change.
