LSU Women’s Basketball head coach Kim Mulkey accidentally made a mountain out of a molehill over the weekend when she brought attention to an upcoming Washington Post article about her that the majority of the sports world had likely never heard about before.
In a fiery press conference over the weekend, Mulkey threatened to sue the Washington Post over an upcoming expose about the controversial LSU coach, which brought attention to the story that it otherwise wouldn’t have had.
“The lengths he [Post reporter Kent Babb] has gone to try to put a hit piece together,” Mulkey said on Saturday, March 23, before LSU’s second-round NCAA Tournament game against Middle Tennessee State, which they won by a score of 83-56.
Mulkey then tried to make a point in her favor that ultimately worked against her, as she pointed out that The Washington Post has been trying to get a comment from her for two years.
“After two years of trying to get me to sit with him for an interview, he contacts LSU on Tuesday as we were getting ready for the first-round game of this tournament with more than a dozen questions, demanding a response by Thursday, right before we’re scheduled to tip off. Are you kidding me?” she raged.
Now, instead of having never heard about it, sports fans are actively clamoring for the WaPo piece to such an extent that they’re making memes out of it.

Another popular Kim Mulkey meme has been jokes about Saturday Night Live bringing in legendary former cast member Amy Poehler to play her in a skit.

This is, somewhat hilariously, not the first time there have been calls for Poehler to play Mulkey on Saturday Night Live, as tweets about the idea can be found
“I’m a little sad Kim Mulkey is not a smidge more famous because Amy Poehler could absolutely kill in an SNL skit about her,” said one
“I’m still waiting for it to be discovered that Kim Mulkey has actually been either Amy Poehler or Tracy Ullman doing a long con bit where they act as the worst human being you’ve ever met,” said one sports fan in
