Add Mecole Hardman to the list of players using their offseason to take shots at the New York Jets, as the current Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver recently aired out his dirty laundry with the team.
Hardman’s comments about the Jets come the same week that Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins also blasted the team, calling them a bunch of “weirdos” who care more about Instagram than winning football games.
Speaking on Ryan Clark’s The Pivot podcast, Hardman says that he “checked out” on the team and that they had “no standard.”
“I ain’t trying to bash nobody, but y’all treat certain guys that shouldn’t be treated like they’re treated. I don’t understand why you feel I can’t compete with any of these guys y’all are playing in front of me,” Hardman said of his brief tenure with the Jets during the 2023 season.
The Chiefs pass-catcher, who caught the game-winning touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, also took shots at the coaching staff for not being able to set a “standard.”
“I just feel like it’s not an established coaching staff there. You just got a new coaching staff that came in and there’s no standard there. Everybody do what they want to do,” Hardman explained.
“Granted, the defense has more of a stabilized standard with the coaching staff on that side, so you can tell the defense has got a standard. But the offense is just like, ‘We’ll just figure it out. It’s Aaron’s show. Let Aaron do what Aaron do.’ But then when Aaron goes down, it’s like ‘We don’t know what to do.’ But it’s that same coach that was out of a job the previous year, but managed to get a new job.”

“y’all can’t tell me about winning. i’ve been to 4 superbowls in 5 years. i know what winning looks like. i know what winning is… yall not doing it right. we got helmets on the ground, we don’t got no… pic.twitter.com/DbYuYTuPQd

Hardman also revealed that he “checked out” of being a committed member of the Jets after only seeing 16 snaps in three games.
“I was so checked out, like, it was over with,” Hardman said. “I had already talked to (Chiefs general manager Brett) Veach and Pat (Mahomes), like, ‘Come get me.'”
It certainly isn’t surprising to see NFL pros say these sorts of things about the Jets, as their leader, Aaron Rodgers, is a narcissist, while their head coach Robert Saleh has overseen three straight losing seasons during his time in New York.
