It’s hard to think of a more unlikely friendship than the one that’s blossomed between Robert Kraft and Meek Mill since the Patriots owner became one of the many people who successfully lobbied for the Philadelphia rapper to be released from prison in 2018.
Since then, that bromance has spawned a number of intriguing and entertaining developments, including the time Meek and Jay-Z surprised Kraft with a Bentley for his 80th birthday and the Celtics game where the octogenarian ended up stuck in the middle of a conversation between the rapper and Gucci Mane.
That second artist has long resided in another city that’s boasted an incredibly formidable hip-hop scene since the 1990s, as the man who once dubbed himself the “East Atlanta Santa” has seen that area produce other major acts like Outkast, T.
I., Jeezy, and Future.Of course, you can’t talk about Atlanta rappers without talking about 2 Chainz, who first made a name for himself as a member of Playaz Circle (of “Duffle Bag Boy” fame) before pursuing a solo career and subsequently becoming one of the most unavoidable rappers of the 2010s.
The man born “Tauheed Epps” is a regular attendee at the Atlanta Falcons games where he’s earned the V.I.P. status that resulted in him getting to meet franchise owner Arthur Blank.
Blank got the chance to discuss that interaction during a recent conversation with NFL Network where he revealed 2 Chainz offered to hook him up with some jewelry after he commented on the bling he was rocking before gracefully turning down the offer for a pretty valid reason.

Here’s what he had to say:
“I saw him on the sidelines at one of our games. We had invited him, and I didn’t know why he was called 2 Chainz. I didn’t know who he was.
I told my staff, ‘Make sure you point him out to me. I want to be respectful.’ I don’t listen to his stuff, but I want to be respectful and appreciate his support.
They did and I said, ‘I can see why your nickname is 2 Chainz.’ He had these big chains around his neck. He said to me, ‘Well, we can get some chains for you’ and I said, ‘Ehh, I’m not sure that’s the right look for me.'”
It’s a shame he didn’t at least see what it looked like before he said know.
