A PGA Tour spectator brought home a souvenir on Thursday during the opening round of The American Express. Adam Schenk shanked his second shot on the 16th hole, and it somehow landed in the viewer’s cocktail.
The wayward shot, as well as its final resting spot, was caught on tape.
It quickly went viral on social media.Playing a shot from 260 yards away from the green, Schenk sailed his attempt well right of the fairway. It found the bottom of the cup – just not the one the golfer was aiming for!
As officials tracked the ball flying toward the boundary, it seemed to disappear before hitting the ground.
Following a brief moment of confusion, it was located in a bystander’s beverage.

“Look at that,” you can hear the onlooker shout. “I caught that right in my chest!”
The ball quickly bounced off his midsection and directly into his cup.
That destination would prove to be a fortuitous one as it helped Schenk’s shot avoid a ricochet off the hilly terrain. He’d later birdie the par-5, but not before thanking the spectator.
“I owe you a drink,” the golfer said before finishing out the hole.
Adam Schenk would end the day at two-under par and currently sits in a tie for 98th place. That birdie certainly helped, though he’s still well off the top spot on the leaderboard – Zach Johnson and Alex Noren finished at -10.
Schenk will look to keep it on the course Friday in hopes of moving up the standings.
