Tempers Flare When NCAA Softball Player Brutally Mocks Opposing Dugout Before Ending Team’s Season

Things got testy near the end of a postseason softball matchup between Duke and South Carolina. Battling in a regional final, the Gamecocks’ season was on the line in what was a tightly contested meeting up through the final frame.

Then, the Blue Devils pulled away to advance to the next round of action while sending their opponent packing.

A bit of drama unfolded in that frustrating seventh inning of play for South Carolina.

Through six innings, Duke led 2-1. The top seed in the Durham regional, the Blue Devils could wrap up a Super Regional appearance with a spotless frame.

They’d do so, and more.

In the top of the inning, Duke plated eight runs to blow the game wide open. As that final result became more clear, one Blue Devil batter took the opportunity to rub salt in the wound.

D’Auna Jennings beat out an infield single that glanced off the glove of a South Carolina pitcher. After safely making her way to first base, she taunted the Gamecocks’ bench.

A bit of spiciness ensued.

South Carolina coach Beverly Smith quickly came out of the dugout, crossing paths with Jennings, and saying something as she walked over to the mound. She wasn’t happy!

Smith then spoke to the umpiring crew for a long moment before finally returning to the dugout.

Apparently, many on the Duke side believed South Carolina’s coaching staff had complained on more than one occasion about a call not going their way. D’Auna Jennings told them to keep crying!

Showing no remorse for that vicious jab, she doubled down with a post on social media.
