Greek BMX rider George Ntavoutian just made history when he completed the biggest vertical bike loop ever ridden.
The record-setting ride went down near the Greek city of Trikala where an abandoned pipe that measures two stories high (7.
5 meters or 24.6 feet) was used for this incredible stunt. They employed a massive inflatable pillow/landing pad for George Ntavoutian to practice on in order to get the speed right.Footage of the incredible BMX loop has been posted in several formats. There is a full video of the attempt and completion along with a shorter clip for those who just want the goods:
George Ntavoutian shared the abridged clip on his personal YouTube channel but it also blew up on Red Bull’s TikTok page:
I simply cannot imagine looking at that two-story-tall abandoned pipe and thinking ‘yeah, I need to ride a complete loop around that.’ Some of these extreme sports athletes are just wired differently and as extreme sports fans, we are all better off for it.
Not to have everyone watch the same clip a third time but this view might be my favorite yet. I’m not even sure what this type of camera work is called but it is incredible:
Dudes rock.
