Robert Griffin III has a good feeling about South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler’s future at the next level. He went as far as to call him “the steal of the NFL Draft” during a podcast on Tuesday.
RGIII is high on Rattler’s abilities, and he believes his time in college has prepared him for a successful pro career.
The former NFL passer spoke on his RG3 and the Ones show, breaking down each of the draft class’s top signal callers. Those, of course, included headliners like Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams.
His take on Rattler might’ve been the most interesting, though, given the wide variety of opinion that surrounds his pro future.
That difference in opinion comes from an up-and-down NCAA career.
Talent was never an issue for Rattler, who landed at Oklahoma as a No. 1 prospect. Questions about his maturity, however, followed him after high school, and they reared their ugly heads after he was benched by the Sooners in his sophomore season.
He worked to change the narrative about those character concerns after transferring to South Carolina, and it seems he’s done so in the eyes of RGIII.
With those issues off the table, it’s all about the production on the field.
Here’s what Robert Griffin had to say about Spencer Rattler in that latest segment.

“I think the steal of the draft is going to be Spencer Rattler,” he said. “When you turn on this man’s tape, he has arm talent out of the wazoo.”
RGIII referenced a Florida game in which he threw for 313 yards and four touchdowns.

Griffin then went on to talk about the disadvantages Rattler faced in his senior season.
“He never complained about the offensive line being leaky,” he continued. “He just found ways to make plays.”
RGIII closed by saying, “He has the arm talent, has the accuracy, has the pre-snap and post-snap ability, and played in a system at South Carolina that forced him to make those three-level throws that they use in the NFL off of play action.
“[It’s] going to translate to him being a better NFL QB than he ever was a college QB.”
Strong words.
Spencer Rattler’s done what he can to boost his draft stock through the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine. He’ll find out how much it helped in just a few weeks!
