As curiosity continues to swirl around the possibility of a new college football video game, it is confirmed that EA Sports will release an updated version of NCAA Football in 2024. We know that it is coming, but we don’t know exactly when that will be.
It is also unclear as to what it will look like.
It has been more than 10 years since the last game was released and technology, graphics, etc. have changed a lot.EA Sports is going to be able to do a lot more with the game to make it look and feel more realistic. To do so, it has been in communication with college football programs nationwide since as early as 2021.
Mississippi State first spoke with EA about the new college football video game in July of 2021.
Tanner Marlar of the Maroon and White Daily recently revealed new details about what things might look like for the Bulldogs. They submitted a lot of assets to the developers to be used in the game.
As for the uniforms, Mississippi State sent its most recent uniforms prior to this past season. Their helmets will feature the ‘Script State’ and they will have three different combinations of maroon and white jerseys, pants and helmets. No grey. It is also expected that a throwback option will be included.
Perhaps more importantly, the audio in the new game is going to be more team-specific. Rather than just generic crowd noise, EA is expected to cater it to each school.
For example, Mississippi State submitted audio of the fans’ maroon and white chant, the fight song, big play reactions, and plenty of cowbells. They also sent over the postgame fight song, a clip of “Dawgs win again,” and clips of both ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)‘ and ‘Don’t Stop Believing,’ which are traditions in Starkville.
It isn’t entirely clear as to how much of what will be used. This is just what the Bulldogs submitted.
And then there’s the stadium itself. Mississippi State sent over countless photos of Davis Wade Stadium from all different angles to ensure that it looks as close to real life as possible. EA and the Bulldogs have also worked together to make certain that all of the recent add-ons and updates to the stadium are included.
Ultimately, although this is Mississippi State specific, it provides a tiny glance at what things could look like as a whole. In a time where we are all clamoring for more information about the upcoming college football video game, we’ll take any scraps we can get!
