Seventh-Year College QB Cam Rising Has Major NIL Earning Potential In Final Season At Utah

Cam Rising NIL

Utah quarterback Cam Rising began his college football career at Texas in 2018. The former three-star recruit later transferred west and joined the Utes.

This upcoming season will mark his seventh year of college football. NIL is a key piece to the puzzle!

Rising earned the starting job in 2021 and immediately became a star in Salt Lake City.

He led his team to an 8-3 record as a fourth-year sophomore while throwing for 20 touchdowns with just five interceptions and followed it up with a 10-3 season behind 25 touchdowns and 2939 yards on a 66.2% completion clip. That doesn’t include his ability to run!

Unfortunately, Rising tore his ACL, MPFL, MCL and meniscus during the Rose Bowl. The sixth-year senior hoped to return at some point in 2023 while making six-figures, but was unable to do so.

That left him with a decision. Rising received a medical redshirt, which would allow him to play a seventh season of college football if he did not enter the NFL Draft.

He ultimately chose to run it back. Name, Image and Likeness opportunities played a big role.

Cam Rising has major NIL earning potential in 2024.

The going price for a top college quarterback in the modern era sits somewhere between $1 and $2 million per year. Some players earn more. Some players earn less.

Cam Rising will likely fall somewhere in between.

According to a new report from Kevin Reynolds of The Salt Lake Tribune, the seventh-year Ute has the opportunity to earn up to $1.5 million between now and next spring. He will make no less than $500,000.

NIL gives you an opportunity to continue to play and make decent money doing it. It just makes sense to stay in that situation and you take advantage of it. If it doesn’t, then you do the opposite and go to the NFL.

The Crimson Collective serves as Utah’s NIL arm. It will handle most of Rising’s finances. However, someone, or something, needs to present the collective with the money to pay him.

Multiple companies with ties to the university stepped up to foot the bill.

  • VoIP phone service company Nextiva
  • C.W. Urban, a design and real estate firm
  • A local Toyota dealership
  • Mountain American Credit Union
  • Les Olson IT
  • CR England Trucking

Other boosters/donors are also involved with the NIL operation. Rising will be well-paid during his final season at Utah!
