Somewhere Plies Is Smiling, Shirtless, And Drunk On Tito’s Celebrating South Carolina’s Win Over LSU

Plies in Atlanta.
Plies in Atlanta.

Some might not know this, but Plies is a huge Dawn Staley fan. The rapper closely follows the South Carolina head coach and her Gamecocks as they dominate women’s college basketball.

He was PUMPED to watch Staley lead her team into Baton Rouge on Thursday to take on the ninth-ranked LSU Tigers.

A heavyweight bout, the game featured the defending national champions facing off against a Final Four South Carolina squad. Those teams boasted a 35-2 combined record upon entering the matchup, and each flexed their muscles at different points throughout the contest.

LSU was the host, and fans came out in full force to root the Tigers on. Students were seen arriving to their seats over an hour before tipoff, getting settled in what would be a packed arena.

The atmosphere was incredible in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, even if Kim Mulkey tried to suck some fun from the home crowd before the opening tip.

Plies, meanwhile, was watching from the comfort of his own home, though that wouldn’t stop him from creating a raucous gameday environment of his own.

“I’m Gone Be In Rare Form!” he said about his plans of watching the matchup. “From 7pm-10pm My Phone Will Be Off! I’ll Have No Shirt On, Face Painted, Pocket Full Of Money & A Cup Fulla Tito’s. Enjoying The #1 Team In The Nation!! I Can’t Wait!!!”

Luckily for followers, he lied about one aspect of that tweet.

His phone was on for the entirety of the game as he posted his own commentary of the back-and-forth slugfest.

When LSU went up 11 points in the first half, Plies was irate.

The Tigers looked destined to pull the upset, that is, until the Gamecocks went on a run late in the third quarter.

That double-digit lead disappeared as the teams began trading leads throughout the final period. With less than 1:45 remaining on the clock, the score was knotted at 70.

South Carolina would make one last run to escape with a 76-70 victory.

Dawn Staley’s bunch remained undefeated with the road win, and Plies was enjoying every second of it.

Drink in hand, the rapper set sights on March – and the national championship. The Tito’s was definitely flowing, though it looks like he held off on the face paint.

where due, noting that LSU overpowered their opponent for much of the contest.

“We Won Tonight But LSU Bullied Us For 3 1/2 Qtrs,” he wrote. “We Played Like Suburban Kids Tonight & They Played Like They Was Tryin’ To Feed They Family! Hall, Paopao & Kitts Saved Us Tonight! We Gotta Go Take It & Stop Waiting On It To Happen! Let’s Go! Kick In The Door!”

Should South Carolina land a title, I think it would warrant a return trip to Columbia for the artist.

Who knows? Staley might just meet up with her biggest fan!
