Last week, retired Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce made waves when he accused legendary racehorse and 1973 Triple Crown winner Secretariat of anabolic steroid use. For obvious reasons, his wild tweet rant went viral on Twitter.
Many people dismissed him as being absolutely crazy. But, horse racing expert and NBC analyst Randy Moss blended credence to Jason Kelce’s theory in a podcast appearance released on Friday.
Here was Kelce’s original rant about Secretariat, after a conversation where he accused the horse of doping on his podcast with his brother, Travis Kelce, called New Heights.
Just going to put this out there, you know who else has enlarged hearts. People who take copious amounts of steroids. I’ll admit I don’t know whether Secretariat was on steroids or not, it’s impossible to know, because in 1973 when Secretariat won the triple crown there was not… https://t.co/QClbJKSkzD

Randy Moss was on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take, as he usually is during the run to the Triple Crown. And, they asked Randy Moss about the allegations of Secretariat possibly having used steroids. Instead of outwardly rejecting them, he gave them some credibility.

Look, Secretariat was running at a time, where I’m told, anabolic steroid use was rampant in thoroughbred racing. When Secretariat was retired, he had some immature sperm. That was a concern to breeders. That happens to be a side-effect of anabolic steroid use. Does that mean he was definitely on steroids? No. I, when he died, he had the autopsy done, he had an enlarged heart, which again, is a side effect, one of the side effects of anabolic steroids. So, you know, there is a, I think a pretty strong possibility that Secretary was racing on anabolic steroids. But here’s the deal. So were the other horses. He was running against right? If Secretariat was on anabolic steroid, you know, Sham was. It wasn’t just Lucien Lauren, the trainer of Secretariat, that had access to this stuff.
Wait. Is America’s favorite horse a cheat? It seems as if Randy Moss thinks that’s pretty likely. That would be a real shame. At this point, it seems like a lot of people owe Jason Kelce an apology.
