Clemson’s Will Taylor has the respect of the college baseball world due to his incredible abilities on the diamond. The junior is one of the ACC’s top contributors, hitting .362 last season while helping the Tigers host a regional in June.
He’s also landed the praise of a few college football personalities, including Kirk Herbstreit! That’s due to his former role on the gridiron.
A wide receiver on Dabo Swinney’s squad for two seasons, the pass catcher hauled in five receptions and a touchdown as a sophomore in 2022. The two-sport star was a fan favorite in Death Valley, also landing a major role as a return man during his time with the program.
Unfortunately, his contributions on the baseball field far exceeded his production as a footballer, leading him to make the decision to focus on one sport ahead of his junior campaign.

It’s the right move from a professional standpoint as he’s listed by MLB.com as a top 20 college prospect.
He’s already been drafted once, picked in the 19th round by the Texas Rangers as a high school senior. He only went that late due to his decision to play football with the Tigers.
If Taylor hadn’t been set on playing wide receiver for Clemson’s football team, he would have been a first-round pick as a South Carolina high schooler in 2021. Now focused on baseball, he offers a package of tools and upside… and batted .362/.489/.523 with 11 steals last spring.
He’s only adding to that draft stock this year.
Will Taylor hit 3 HRs against USC-Upstate.

Taylor went yard a trio of times, with distances of 374, 379, and 426 feet. His final blast was the most impressive of the night.
Those three bombs tied a Clemson baseball record, etching the outfielder’s name in the program history books.
Kirk Herbstreit took notice!
“3-3 with 3 bombs,” Twitter
on his X feed. “We see ya kid!!!”
Herbstreit is no stranger to Clemson, with two of his sons having suited up for Dabo Swinney as walk-ons. Tye Herbstreit, also a wideout, played two seasons with Will Taylor on the football field.
High praise for the MLB Draft prospect!
