Philadelphia 76ers Fan Uncover Apparent Tobias Harris Burner Account On Twitter

If there’s one NBA fan base you can’t hide a burner Twitter account from, it’s the Philadelphia 76ers.

But it appears that Sixers forward Tobias Harris didn’t get the memo.

Sixers fans appear to have uncovered a since-deleted burner account run by either Harris or a member of his family following Philadelphia’s play-in victory over the Miami Heat.

“This is what you get when you try to play through an injury in Philadelphia. Nothing but abuse. No worse fans in America than Philly fans,” the anonymous account replied to an image showing Harris miss four consecutive layup attempts.

But it didn’t stop there. An earlier tweet from the same account attacked 76ers teammate Kelly Oubre Jr.

“11 points tonight on 3/9 from the field and you don’t say s—. Tobias goes 4/10 playing through and injury and you act like he murdered somebody. Be better,” the tweet read.

To add a further layer of weirdness, Oubre was formerly represented by Torrel Harris, Tobias’ father. Though he parted ways with Torrel Harris in the offseason prior to signing in Philadelphia.

The account, which has the handle @JimmySmits3273, has since deleted both of the above tweets. Whoever is operating it also deleted several other tweets before switching to private.

Obviously, there’s no way to confirm whether it’s Harris or a family member unless they come out and admit it. But it’s hard to imagine any other scenario.

Particularly when the account referred to Harris playing through an injury that has not been made public.

What is the injury? How does this person know about it? And why are they so keen to defend Tobias Harris?

Tobias Harris Burner-Gate Comes Amidst Worst Season With Sixers

Harris has struggled to live up to the five-year, $180 million contract he signed in Philadelphia prior to the 2019-20 season.

But this season has reached new lows.

He’s shooting just 35.3 percent from 3-point range, his worst since the 2016-17 season, and his defense has taken a step backward.

Harris is set to become a free agent in the summer and Philly fans are more than happy to see him leave. Now, it appears the feeling is mutual as well.
