Dallas QB Dak Prescott could become a very rich man this coming season. Rumors are circulating social media hinting that he’ll soon reset the quarterback market.
The news comes after the Cowboys backed themselves into a corner in terms of contract negotiations, potentially leaving them no other choice than to pay up.
A number of things will go into this decision, with most revolving around past handlings of Prescott’s deal.
Those include the use of franchise tags and his no-trade clause.
A reminder of the leverage Dak Prescott will have on the #Cowboys this offseason in extension talks…

“Prescott has one year left on his contract and has all the leverage in the world to ask the Cowboys to make him the highest-paid QB in NFL history,” NFL reporter Twitter
on X.
Essentially, the Cowboys can’t trade him to another suitor, and if they don’t pay him what he wants, he can walk as an unrestricted free agent.
A lose-lose!
The only potential win? Opening up the wallet.
Dak Prescott could soon be the NFL’s highest paid QB.

Not only are the Cowboys handcuffed in negotiations, but Prescott is fresh off his best professional season. The passer led the NFL in touchdowns and completions while posting a respectable 4/1 TD-to-INT rate.
He went 12-5 as a starter, taking the Cowboys to an NFC East title and another playoff appearance. Unfortunately, Dallas lost in their postseason opener to the Packers, making Prescott 2-5 as a playoff starter.
The Cowboys have been trying to figure out if Dak Prescott is a franchise QB for essentially his entire pro career. They may not have a choice in keeping him in 2024 – and at a hefty price tag at that!
