Amen corner. Pimento cheese sandwiches. Patrons afoot across the course.
There are the things that make Augusta National and, specifically The Masters special.
But there are also several other elements, like the legendary Azalea cocktail that has been keeping patrons well hydrated for several years.
And now you can finally make them at home.
The cocktail shares a name with the legendary par-5 13th hole at Augusta National, which closes out Amen Corner. It’s light, refreshing and has nice pink hue to it.
But what’s in it?
We’ll tell you!
According to Jessica Marksbury of Golf.com, most fans believe that the cocktail has pineapple juice in it. But that’s not the case.
Marksbury reveals that the cocktail contains the following items and quantities:
-Ice
-2.75 oz vodka
-5 oz lemonade
-0.5 oz grenadine
-Cherry and lemon wheel garnish
Augusta National told Marksbury that the drink is “an Augusta National specialty,” that “tastes like spring is in the air and is the perfect addition to your at-home watch party.”
And, honestly, it sounds delicious.
Our own Connor Toole tested out the “Taste of The Masters” food package a few years back and came away with rave reviews.
“Did it manage to live up to the hype? Well, I do kind of regret buying it, but only because I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to watch the Masters again without having this truly glorious spread at my disposal,” Toole said of the package, which includes items such a pimento cheese, egg salad and pulled pork barbecue.
Notably, the package does not include the iconic cocktail. But now that you have the recipe, you can make as many of them as you’d like.
The 2024 edition of The Masters begins on April 11 and is scheduled to wrap up on Sunday, April 14. Defending champion Jon Rahm is hoping to become the first back-to-back winner since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002.
