Regardless of whether the Dallas Cowboys won or lost on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, the NFL media would have plenty of narratives to feast on for the next week.

With the loss, however, they now have an entire offseason worth of talking points to bloviate on, particularly when it comes to the future of head coach Mike McCarthy and starting quarterback Dak Prescott.

Stephen A. Smith, for example, came out swinging on the Monday episode of First Take as he exclaimed that Prescott needs to “shut the hell up” following the Cowboys’ latest embarrassing exit from the postseason.

“There does come a point in time where Dak Prescott needs to shut the hell up,” Smith said about Prescott’s postgame comments.

“The standard? What would you know about the standard? You haven’t lived up to the standard that was once set decades before you… They were winning. What would you know about that if you’re a Dallas Cowboy since 1996? You wouldn’t know anything about that.”

In addition to his rant on First Take, Smith also did his usual troll job on social media on Sunday night by posting his now-traditional laughing-into-the-camera-at-Cowboys-fans video.

Despite his obvious showmanship, Smith undoubtedly has a point about the Cowboys, who have simply not been able to obtain any meaningful postseason success during the Prescott/McCarthy era.

Although the Cowboys were favored by 7 points heading into the NFC Wild Card round matchup, the ultimately lost by 16 points in the 48-32 game against the Packers.

That final score ever flatters Dallas’ performance, as many of those points were put up in garbage time, as they trailed by 27 points in the first half and by 32 points late in the 4th quarter.

The blowout loss at the hands of the Packers is even more eye-opening when considering the fact that the Cowboys had previously won 16 straight games at AT&T Stadium.

All of these factors combined will surely lead to both McCarthy and Prescott’s jobs being on the hot seat in the coming weeks and months.
