It has yet to be determined whether Bronny James will play next season in the NBA or if he will return to college after entering the transfer portal. That is going to be determined at the draft next month.
LeBron James Jr. could be picked as early as the late first round or slip into the second.
Regardless of how things are expected play out, the 19-year-old seems to have interest in only two specific organizations.
His father’s team, the Lakers, is one of them.James had an impressive showing at the NBA Combine in Chicago, even though a former three-star recruit buried him with just four simple words. Teams were impressed by his on-court abilities as well as his in-person interviews. One such meeting seemingly set his draft floor.
Los Angeles is likely going to draft James if he is available at No. 55 in the second round. His dad is deciding on a player-option and may or may not test the waters in free agency. LeBron Sr. would not pass up the opportunity to play with his eldest child.
The Phoenix Suns is the other team.
More than 10 NBA teams want to host Bronny James for a private workout. According to Shams Charania, he told most of them to kick rocks. Only the Lakers and Suns are absolutely going to get a workout, regardless of what happens in the next few days and weeks. All of the other interested parties will have to wait and see if they get approval. It does not seem like that will happen.
Phoenix will pick only at No. 22 in the first round of the NBA Draft. Los Angeles holds No. 17 in the first round and the fourth-to-last pick overall.
If James’ pre-draft workouts are any indication, those are the only two teams with any chance of drafting him. All of the other potential suitors were shot down before they even got a chance.
