The Dallas Cowboys were absolutely humiliated at home in the NFC Wild Card Round against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, 48-32. A result like that naturally leads to questions about the future of Head Coach Mike McCarthy in Dallas.
It seems likely that he will be fired after Sunday’s setback, and names are already floating around on potential replacements for Mike McCarthy if Cowboys Owner/GM Jerry Jones decides to part ways with McCarthy
Of course, one of the names getting buzz is recently unemployed Patriots legendary Head Coach Bill Belichick.
The six-time Super Bowl Champion and New England parted ways this year after a 4-13 season and consecutive years missing the playoffs. But, there’s no doubt that plenty of teams would absolutely want to have someone of his pedigree and acumen as their head coach.
Could a marriage between the league’s most well-known coach and the most valuable franchise be coming? According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Bill Belichick has formed a relationship with Jerry and Stephen Jones and that could possibly turn into the legend being the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys sooner or later.
Just a total meltdown.
And a note here: Bill Belichick has, quietly in recent years, through doing football business and attending owners meetings, built a very solid relationship with both Jerry and Stephen Jones. Things might be getting pretty interesting here.

Make no mistake, if Bill Belichick ended up as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys it would be the most talked about NFL coaching hire in history. Sports talk shows would be absolutely electric. The discourse would be inescapable.
