New Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer allowed one of his Washington Husky players to suit up in the College Football Playoff following some disturbing allegations. Those center around a pair of assaults.

Freshman running back Tylin Rogers was accused by two different women during Washington’s 2023 season, which ultimately led to a one-game suspension.

He’s since been charged and arrested on two different counts.

More from the Seattle Times:

Rogers, 18, was arrested around 9 a.m. Friday in the 3900 block of Montlake Boulevard, where Husky Stadium is located, the Seattle Police Department said in a blog post. He was released from jail after posting bond.

On Tuesday, he was charged with one count of second-degree rape and one count of third-degree rape.

That report claims that he met up with both women, who attended local universities, after matching on dating app Tinder. The incidents were stated to have occurred between October and November of last year.

Tylin Rogers did not travel with the team to the PAC 12 title game in December. According to police investigators, they believe that there was a “connection” between Rogers being taken off the travel roster and a Title IX complaint filed by one of the accusers.

That same woman also attempted to warn others on social media after the fact.

Despite sitting out for the conference championship, however, Rogers was able to suit back up for College Football Playoff matchups against Texas and Michigan.

The brief suspension was Rogers’ second on the season as he was initially punished for a violation of team rules in early September. He didn’t make his Washington debut until September 16th, the Huskies’ third game of the season.

Kalen DeBoer’s coaching staff seemed to have knowledge of the situation given an offensive staffer’s response to Rogers’ removal from the roster.

“I can’t comment on what it was exactly, but Tybo’s done a great job with being here, listening to directions and just working through this moment and really being a good steward of the team.

The school released a comment on the situation following last week’s arrest.

“The student-athlete has been suspended from all team activities until further notice,” a UW athletics spokesperson said. “The UW will continue to gather facts and cooperate with law enforcement, as requested.”

New Washington head coach Jedd Fisch echoed that sentiment.

“That had nothing to do with what we do here,” he responded when asked about Rogers. “As soon as I found out about the allegations, as soon as it was brought to our attention, he’s been suspended indefinitely. I have no comment about what happened in the past. That has nothing to do with me.”

As for Kalen DeBoer, he’s now off to Alabama to replace Nick Saban. These decisions will likely be more scrutinized in Tuscaloosa following this unfortunate situation.
