Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker gave a commencement speech this past weekend that was so problematic that even the nuns at the college where he gave the speech felt the need to publicly disagree with it.
“The sisters of Mount St. Scholastica do not believe that Harrison Butker’s comments in his 2024 Benedictine College commencement address represent the Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college that our founders envisioned and in which we have been so invested,” the nuns said at the beginning of a statement on Facebook.
The NFL also issued a statement denouncing the speech, stating, “His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.
”So many people were offended by Harrison Butker that more than 150,000 of them have signed a petition asking for him to be released by the Chiefs.
That, based on the reactions of daughter and wife of the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, is not going to happen.
During an appearance Friday morning on Fox & Friends, Gracie Hunt, 25, was asked for a reaction from her family to what Harrison Butker said.
“Well, I can only speak from my own experience, which is I’ve had the most incredible mom who had the ability to stay home and be with us as kids growing up, and I understand that there are many women out there who can’t make that decision,” Gracie Hunt replied, “but for me and my life, I know it was really formative and in shaping me and my siblings to be who we are.”
“So you understand what he was talking about?” host Steve Doocy then asked Hunt.
“For sure,” Gracie Hunt replied. “And I really respect Harrison and his Christian faith and what he’s accomplished on and off the field.”

Tavia Hunt, Gracie’s mother and the director of the Kansas City Chiefs Women’s Organization, weighed in with her thoughts in a post on Instagram.
“I’ve always encouraged my daughters to be highly educated and chase their dreams,” . “I want them to know that they can do whatever they want (that honors God). But I also want them to know that I believe finding a spouse who loves and honors you as or before himself and raising a family together is one of the greatest blessings this world has to offer.”
By the way, Harrison Butker’s own mother has a master’s degree in medical physics and is an accomplished physicist who has worked in the department of radiation oncology at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta since 1988.
