It has been 21 years since Michael Jordan last played in a NBA game. 21 years. And he still lives rent-free in Isiah Thomas’ head.
Much like Jordan’s former Bulls teammate Scottie Pippen, Isiah Thomas never, EVER missed an opportunity to talk down about arguably the greatest basketball player in the history of the NBA.
The feud between Thomas and Jordan dates all the way back to the early 1990s when Isiah’s Pistons were overtaken by Jordan’s Bulls as best team in the NBA.
It was reignited four years ago when Michael Jordan called Thomas an a– hole in documentary The Last Dance.
Thomas claimed after that episode of The Last Dance that he had no idea that Michael Jordan hated him.
Two years later, in 2022, Isiah Thomas claimed that Michael Jordan owed him an apology.
“When I was watching The Last Dance, I’m sitting there and I’m watching it with my family and I’m thinking everything is good,” Thomas said, according to Eurohoops.
“And then this guy comes on television and he says that he hates me and then he calls me an a– hole. And then I proceed to watch a whole documentary about him being an a–- hole. I’m like wait a minute, time out.
“Until I get a public apology, this beef is gonna go on for a long long time, cause I’m from the west side of Chicago.”
Two more years later, Isiah Thomas is still angling for that apology from MJ.
“This dude got on national television, international television, and called me an a– hole,” Thomas told Draymond Green this week on his podcast.
“Somebody who’s been really good to him,” he continued.
“And until he apologizes on international television, we… no conversation. You can’t apologize and have a private dinner when you done embarrassed me publicly. If you didn’t mean it, say it publicly. Now if you meant it, let it stand. I’m good with that.”
Considering how often Thomas likes to talk about what MJ said about him, it sounds like he’s the one having trouble letting “it stand.”

Of course, Thomas wasn’t done ragging on Michael Jordan. He also tried to excuse the Pistons not shaking the Bulls hands after they lost in the Eastern Conference Finals in 1991.
