EA Sports has made it clear it went to great lengths to capture the essence of the gameday experience ahead of the release of College Football 25, which will apparently include an instrumental version of “Neck,” the song LSU’s band isn’t allowed to play in real life.

On Wednesday, we were treated to a tsunami of new information concerning what to expect from College Football 25 when a number of media members who got the chance to play the video game ahead of its release on July 19th got the green light to publish articles concerning their initial impressions.

There were a ton of details to sift through courtesy of the various outlets that outlined the revamped gameplay while thankfully confirming it is not just a reskin of the Madden franchise.

They also outlined the exhaustive lengths the folks at EA Sports went to in order to recreate the 134 college football stadiums that will appear in the rebooted title in addition to the many signature touches that you can expect to experience when you attend a game at one of them in person.

Prohibitively high licensing fees prevented the use of “Enter Sandman” at the start of Virginia Tech games (virtual Wisconsin fans also won’t be shaking the bleachers with the help of “Jump Around”), but College Football 25 will still feature plenty of signature music associated with programs around the country—including the LSU Tigers.

Casual fans of college football can be forgiven for not being intimately familiar with the controversy surrounding “Neck,” an instrumental version of the Dem Franchize Boyz song “Talkin’ Out Da Side of Ya Neck.

The LSU band has been banned from playing “Neck” during games since 2017 courtesy of the vulgar chant referencing a lewd act concerning a tiger’s private parts that the student section became very fond of belting out whenever the song ended up in the musical rotation, but according to College Football 25 authority Matt Brown, it managed to make the cut for the game.

It’s kind of a shame College Football 25 won’t be released for PC, because while the console versions will only feature an instrumental version of “Neck,” its inclusion presents a golden opportunity for a fantastic mod.
