Top College Football Recruit Boasts Giant Striped Bass To Try And Land New Offensive Linemen

Clemson Gideon Davis Fish

Clemson running back commit Gideon Davidson hopes that his massive bass will bring good vibes on the recruiting trail. He wants it to be a sign of big things to come, literally.

It is quite the catch!

Davidson, a Virginia-native, posted a photo of the hybrid striped bass he reeled in on Tuesday. In doing so, the Class of 2025 prospect tagged a trio of offensive lineman and Tigers offensive line coach Matt Luke.

All three hog mollies are considering Dabo Swinney’s program in the recruiting process.

Clemson’s soon-to-be freshman ball-carrier wants them to block for him!

First and foremost, the size of Davidson’s bass cannot be overlooked. That’s a biggun!

He caught the fish on Lake Hartwell, which straddles the border between South Carolina and Georgia, is located just south of Clemson.

The Georgia state fishing record for hybrid bass is a whopping 25 pounds, 8 ounces. That record was set way back in 1995 by angler David Hobby who was fishing on Lake Chatuge, a lake that’s also produced the state’s fishing record for smallmouth bass. At 29 years, that fishing record seems ripe for breaking.

Angler Danny Wood set the South Carolina state record for a Hybrid Bass when he landed a 20-pound, 6-ounce monster back in 1978 on the Savannah River. It’s the second-oldest bass fishing record in the Palmetto State. Only the record for largemouth bass has stood longer (1949) but that record was even tied back in 1993.

Gideon Davidson came pretty close!

I am absolutely baffled that Hugh Freeze did not seen the post and immediately try to poach the four-star recruit from Clemson. These types of fishing posts are what he does best— even though Lane Kiffin does it better.

Jokes aside, I absolutely love this move from Davidson. He got to flex on everybody after reeling in a monster and used it to try and boost his own program. That’s a ream team player right there!

Davidson is ranked as one of the five best running backs in this upcoming class at 6-foot-0, 193 pounds. His speed is his biggest asset and he was named MaxPreps’ National Junior of the Year last season after rushing for an eye-popping 2,752 yards and 43 touchdowns.

Although Davidson will benefit from a college strength and conditioning program, he is obviously strong enough to reel-in big monsters out on the lake. Should his recruiting pitch work, there will be a lot of beef for him to run behind!

Five-star David Sanders is 6-foot-6, 270 pounds. Five-star Josh Petty is 6-foot-5, 262 pounds. Four-star Mason Short is 6-foot-5, 300 pounds.

Davidson believes that the former two are going to commit to Clemson. Getting the latter to flip his commitment from Georgia might be more difficult.

Maybe his fish will get it done?
