After saying goodbye to massive draft bust Zach Wilson, the New York Jets have brought in two quarterbacks this offseason in order to bolster the QB room behind Aaron Rodgers: veteran journeyman and competent starter Tyrod Taylor and rookie Jordan Travis.

The Jets selected Travis in the fifth round (171st overall) out of Florida State University, where he played from 2019 to 2023.

During his last season at FSU, Travis led the Seminoles to the College Football Playoff position with an 11-0 record but got severely injured in a late November game and wasn’t able to play in the playoffs, which resulted in Florida State getting blown out to Georgia by a score of 63-3.

Following the draft, Travis spoke to NFL Draft analyst Keith Sanchez and said working with Rodgers is going to be a “blessing.”

“It’s a blessing, for sure,” Travis said of being able to learn from Aaron Rodgers. “I want to learn everything. I want to pick his brain on everything he does. How he treats his teammates, how he carries himself on the field, off the field. I can’t wait.”

Travis perhaps shouldn’t get his hopes too up for a rosy mentorship from Rodgers, as the 40-year-old Jets quarterback reportedly ghosted Zach Wilson last season following his injury.

There is also the possibility he experiences similar to DeShone Kizer, who said that Aaron Rodgers implied that 9/11 was an inside job virtually as soon as the pair met.

Travis’ best season in college with the Florida State Seminoles came in 2022 when he had career-highs in games started (13), attempts (226), completions (353), passing yards (3,214), yards per completion (9.1), touchdowns (24) and quarterback rating (160.1).

In addition to Travis, the New York Jets also drafted offensive tackle Olu Fashanu, wide receiver Malachi Corley, running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers, and safety Jaylen King.
