One week ago, NASCAR Cup Series driver Chris Buescher lost a race at Kansas Speedway by .0001 of a second, the closest margin in series history.
Fast forward to Darlington Raceway on Sunday and it appeared Buescher was in line to get the victory that eluded him seven days prior.
That is, until fellow star driver Tyler Reddick made a bonzai move with nine laps to go, wrecking both cars.

Reddick attempted to pass Buescher using a “slide job” move where he enters the corner with more speed and then slides up in front. Unfortunately for both drivers, Reddick did not make it past Buescher and put both into the wall.
Both drivers were forced to pit to repair their cars and get new tired. Buescher’s teammate and team owner went on to take the victory and his first race win in over 100 stars.
After the race, Buescher immediately went up to Reddick and things got physical.

“WHAT WAS THAT?! WHAT WAS THAT” Buescher could be heard yelling before shoving Reddick.
Reddick, who is notably the far smaller of the two drivers, immediately took the blame.
“I know. I f-ed up. I’m sorry,” he said repeatedly. “I tried to back out and I got you. The last thing I want to do is wreck your car.”

Buescher then walked away. But it was clear he was still angry.

Notably, Reddick is already locked into the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs by virtue a win earlier in the season. While a win for Buescher would have done the same for him.
He pointed that out to Reddick during the altercation, to which Reddick appeared to have no response.
It’s hard to blame him for the anger, and Reddick handled things about as well as you could.
But he still made a brutal mistake to ruin the day of another driver.
