Cormani McClain Threw Shade At Deion Sanders By Declaring He Doesn’t Want To ‘Play For Clicks’

Cormani McClain Deion Sanders Colorado

Cormani McClain spent just one college football season with Deion Sanders at Colorado. His freshman year was a rollercoaster, to say the least.

Now, after entering the transfer portal, he is throwing shade at the Buffaloes!

McClain, the top-ranked defensive back in the recruiting Class of 2023, was ranked as a top-15 player overall and listed as a five-star prospect.

Colorado flipped him from Miami at the last minute over 24 other offers from schools. It was a huge win on the recruiting trail for Deion Sanders after landing Travis Hunter Jr. the year prior.

Unfortunately, McClain’s short time in Boulder did not go as planned.

Sanders sent him a very blunt message in late September when he was struggling for playing time, benched him during his first start, and sparked drama between them. There were a few good moments, like when McClain played possessed against USC, but it was an overwhelming disappointment.

As a result, the rising sophomore chose to enter the transfer portal. McClain conveniently omitted Coach Prime from his farewell post while Sanders (not-so) subtly hinted at a lack of effort. Their split is not amicable.

Since deciding to leave Colorado, McClain has heard from LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Auburn, Texas A&M, Georgia, USF, UCF, Oregon and UCLA, among others.

The controversial (for lack of better word) defensive back released a YouTube video to discuss his “Next Step” on Saturday. It included a very clear shot at his former school and its head coach.

McClain said that he wants to play for a “real program,” and doesn’t want to play for clicks. He also made a point to establish that his grades are good, which is something that Sanders implied was not the case in the fall.

Although McClain did not mention the Buffaloes or Deion Sanders by name, what he didn’t say spoke just as loudly as what he did say. You can read between the lines!
