We’re presumably just a couple of months away from the highly anticipated release of College Football 25, and it looks like EA Sports is planning on charging a very pretty penny for the priciest version of the game.
There’s a ton of hype surrounding College Football 25 as we inch closer to the end of an 11-year drought that will finally cease when EA Sports resurrects the franchise it decided to abandon in 2014 in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling that determined it had illegally harnessed the name, image, and likeness of the players it included in its college sports titles.
We’ll almost certainly be treated to an official release date and a trailer during the reveal that’s slated for May 16th, but we’ve already gotten an idea of what’s in store. Last week, we were treated to a leak that showed Quinn Ewers, Travis Hunter, and Donovan Edwards would be featured on the cover of the deluxe edition of College Football 25, and the broadcasters who were tapped to lend their services have also given us a glimpse at the exhaustive effort that went into recording their lines.
It would appear the base price of admission is going to be $69.99 based on a listing that was recently uncovered in GameStop’s database, which isn’t a huge surprise when you consider that’s become the standard for video games on the current generation of consoles.
However, it appears players will also have the option to shell out a whopping $149.99 for the “Heisman Edition” of College Football 25, which obviously raises some questions about what you’re going to get if you decide to go that route.

The fact that the $150 option exists would appear to all but confirm EA Sports is planning on featuring the college football equivalent of the Madden Ultimate Team, as it seems very safe to assume the price accounts for some sort of digital currency that will be included in the package.
This is purely speculative, but it seems likely EA Sports will also offer exclusive content in the hopes of getting players to buy the Heisman Edition. Doing something like putting alternate jerseys behind a paywall would be an unforced error guaranteed to generate unnecessary backlash, it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
We’ll have to wait and see, but we’ll probably get an answer when the reveal takes place on Thursday.
