White Sox outfielder Tommy Pham was heated after a close play at the plate during a game against the Brewers on Sunday. He got so worked up that he attempted square up to Milwaukee catcher William Contreras – and anyone else who wanted the smoke!
The outburst came when Tommy Pham was thrown out at home by a defensive relay. Beaten soundly by the ball, he didn’t really make a slide attempt on his way down the baseline.
Instead, he stopped that slide short, making contact with Contreras’s chest using his shoulder.

The catcher took offense with the contact, chirping at Pham as he made his way towards the dugout. After hearing the trash talk, Pham turned his attention to Contreras, having to be held back by teammates as he shouted at the Milwaukee bench.
Things escalated quickly!
“Nah we ain’t taking that from the Brewers,” a member of the broadcast crew was heard saying after seeing the reaction. “I don’t care how many Ls we got this year.”
Tommy Pham is known as a bit of a hothead in baseball circles. He’s not far removed from an incident involving Joc Pederson where he slapped the outfielder in a pregame warmup due to a silly fantasy football dispute.
He’s also been seen in the past mixing it up with fans and former teammates online.
Pham’s eruption on Sunday would do little to motivate the White Sox throughout the rest of the game. Trailing 4-3 at the time of the play, Milwaukee would go onto win the matchup 6-3 by tacking on a pair of runs in the eighth inning.
Tommy Pham was 0-3 at the plate from his leadoff spot in the order.
After the game, he responded to the incident. He wasn’t backing down!
“There’s a reason why I do all kinds of fighting in the offseason,” he told reporters. “I’m prepared to f— somebody up.”

Not only did he invite the challenge from Contreras, but he also threw his third base coach under the bus while discussing the play. Quite the day for Tommy Pham.
