Shane Gillis’ Netflix Show ‘Tires’ Has Landed A Second Season Before Its First One Even Premiered

Shane Gillis has been doing pretty well for himself while slowly but surely expanding his comedic horizons over the past few years, and his hot streak has continued prior to the release of the first season of Tires, the Netflix show that has already been renewed before a single episode was released to the viewing public.

The vast majority of people had never heard of Shane Gillis before he was tapped to join the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2019 only to be given the boot just four days later courtesy of some problematic language he’d deployed on his podcast.

While it was a pretty devastating setback, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the stand-up comedian who started pumping out sketches of his own with longtime collaborator John McKeever while using appearances on The Joe Rogan Experience and other podcasts to amass a following that grew to the point where he got the chance to host SNL earlier this year.

Gillis did his thing in Studio 8H a couple of days before Netflix announced it had bought the rights to Tires, the self-produced sitcom he stars in that centers around the ragtag group of misfits employed at a tire shop in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania (the pilot had previously been uploaded to YouTube but was taken down when the deal was inked).

The first season of Tires will hit Netflix on May 23rd and appears to be tailor-made for anyone who enjoys Gillis’ particular brand of scumbag comedy, which I should stress is a term I use endearingly (it’s only natural Stavros Halkias is also playing a supporting role when you consider the two of them operate on some very similar wavelengths).

Only time will tell if Netflix has a hit on its hands thanks to Tires, but it looks like the streamer is pretty optimistic when you consider it has already announced the show will be getting a second season a couple of days before its premiere.

The Shane Gillis Revenge Tour continues to have some serious gas.
