Netflix
- Former Saturday Night Live star Mike Myers has been out of the spotlight for some time now.
- The Austin Powers star is set to star in the upcoming Netflix series The Pentaverate.
- Myers will play eight different characters in the series, which also stars Keegan-Michael Key.
After being one of the dominant comedic actors in the late 90s and early 2000s, former Saturday Night Live and Austin Powers star Mike Myers has spent the last decade or so in the background of Hollywood, only making occasional cameo appearances in projects such as Inglourious Basterds, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Space Jam: A New Legacy. When it comes to properly starring in something, Myers hasn’t been the lead in a feature film or TV series since 2010’s Shrek Forever After.
Myers’ pseudo-retirement will be coming to an end in a few short weeks, though, as Netflix has released the first trailer for The Pentaverate, the upcoming series that will see Myers starring as eight — yes, EIGHT — different characters.
So not only is Myers back but he’s coming back in full Mike Myers force. Here’s the official synopsis for The Pentaverate, via Netflix:
What if a secret society of five men has been working to influence world events for the greater good since the Black Plague of 1347? As this new series begins, one unlikely Canadian journalist finds himself embroiled in a mission to uncover the truth and just possibly save the world himself. Remember, the Pentaverate must never be exposed!
The Pentaverate will hit Netflix in the United States on Thursday, May 5. In addition to Myers and Key, The Pentaverate will also star Ken Jeong, Debi Mazar, Richard McCabe, Jennifer Saunders and Lydia West.
