Former NFL player Sergio Brown was taken to custody in connection his mother’s death, according to CNN.
Brown, who had been in Mexico, was deported and apprehended near San Diego, based on an Illinois arrest warrant. San Diego police are working on his transfer to the Chicago area.
Mexican authorities had knowledge of Brown’s location since at least September 19 and deported him after Illinois authorities obtained the arrest warrant related to his mother’s death.

Myrtle Brown, aged 73, was found dead near her Maywood home on September 16. Relatives had alerted the police when they couldn’t locate her or her son.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Myrtle Brown’s death resulted from assault-related injuries and was ruled a homicide.
Sergio Brown’s NFL journey included stints with the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills before his retirement in 2016.
